Ruby Slipper

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Ruby Slipper collects about Filmmakers and Customers, how we use it, and who we share it with. Ruby Slipper is available in the United States only.

Information we collect

From Customers:

From Filmmakers:

Automatically: basic technical information needed to run the site, such as browser type and pages visited, and small amounts of data stored in your browser to keep you signed in.

Card details go directly to Stripe. Ruby Slipper never sees or stores your full card number.

How we use information

To run accounts, process orders, play films, enforce rental periods, send purchase confirmations and sale notices, answer support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, improve Ruby Slipper, and promote Ruby Slipper and its films. We do not sell personal information.

What Filmmakers receive

Each purchase is made from the Filmmaker on their own Stripe account, so Stripe gives the Filmmaker the payment details for that purchase, including your name and email address. This happens for every purchase.

If you also choose "Yes, I'd love to hear from the filmmaker" at checkout, your name and email appear in the Filmmaker's Ruby Slipper dashboard and can be downloaded, so the Filmmaker can add you to their mailing list. Each Filmmaker is responsible for how they use your information, and you can unsubscribe from their emails at any time.

Companies that help run Ruby Slipper

We share information with service providers only as needed to run Ruby Slipper: Stripe (payments), Bunny.net and Vimeo (video streaming), Supabase (accounts and database), Lovable (hosting, email delivery, and error reports), and Namecheap (our email inbox).

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, to count visits and see how people find Ruby Slipper, and to measure and improve our advertising. Stripe uses cookies on its checkout page to prevent fraud, and Vimeo may set cookies when a film hosted on Vimeo plays.

If we advertise on services such as Meta or Google, we may use their tools on our site to see whether our ads work. We never tell advertising companies which films you watched, rented, or bought.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of Ruby Slipper, such as staying signed in, need them to work.

Legal reasons

We may disclose information to comply with the law or valid legal process, to report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and Ruby Slipper.

How long we keep information

We keep account and order information while your account is open, and afterward as long as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, or close your account, by writing to hello@rubyslipper.net. Deleting your Ruby Slipper account does not delete information a Filmmaker already received through Stripe or their mailing list.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.

Children

Ruby Slipper is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact

We will post any changes here and update the date above. Questions: hello@rubyslipper.net.
